Anaerobic digesters are being used on farms to manage manure and generate energy. This publication outlines the estimated production costs of selected herbaceous feedstocks, including corn stover, winter crops (such as cereal rye), and prairie biomass, which can be added to a digester along with manure to generate additional energy through a process known as co-digestion. Other potential benefits of a co-digestion approach are also described.
