In September 2015, the U.S. Census Bureau released a report on income and poverty in urban and rural American. This report was widely commented upon by national media outlets. However, there was little data or discussion of state-by-state income differences over time. This bulletin summarizes changes in median household incomes over the past decade in rural and urban areas of each state, with a focus on Iowa.
