Confined cow-calf operations are becoming more common as Midwestern cattle producers adjust to increased land costs and a decreasing forage base. As these operations grow, management and health practices will need to be adjusted to minimize effects of increased cattle density. This publication discusses areas such as biosecurity, vaccinations, breeding and calving that may need to change in a move to this new operation.
