This publication explores the evolution of financial liquidity among mid- and large-size Iowa farms in 2023 against a backdrop of substantial and abrupt decline in accrued net farm income. All indicators point to a deterioration of the liquidity situation, and an overall increased need for working capital financing in 2024, except maybe for the shrinking group of farms with strong liquidity or no short-term liabilities.
